Gulmarg
Resting at an altitude of 2,730 m above the sea level, Gulmarg is one of the most sought after and beautiful hill stations in India. Meaning the Meadow of Flowers, the place was originally called 'Gaurimarg' by shepherds. Its present name is given to it by Sultan Yusuf Shah of 16th century who was captivated by the grassy slopes and wild flowers of the region. Gulmarg was a favourite haunt of Emperor Jahangir who once collected 21 different varieties of flowers from here. For those who haven't yet toured this wondrous place, Gulmarg is a must see destination on the map of India.

What was once popular as a Mountain Resort is now famous all over as the abode of the highest green Golf Course in the World. One fascinating feature about Gulmarg is that the way that leads up to it proves a drive that will remain embedded in your mind and body. Beautiful flowers with sashaying trees offer a remarkable scenic indulgence.

Gulmarg stands true to its name during the spring when the Rolling Meadows brim up with countless colourful Bluebells, Daisies, Forget Me Not's and Buttercups. The valley itself is about 3-km long and up to a km wide. Prime attraction in Gulmarg besides the Golf Course is that it is a popular skiing destination witnessing people from all over the world who come here to brush their skiing skills. The Gondola Lift is another enthralling experience to enjoy in Gulmarg.

Patnitop
There is no dearth of splendid hill stations in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Patnitop however can be said to be the most famous and sought after amongst the lot. Set amidst a lush green landscape with snow-capped mountains over looking it, the place proves to be an ideal picnic and a wondrous hill resort for people to relax and unwind in its glory. Resting at a distance of 112 kms from Jammu in the Gulmarg valley, Patnitop is a popular Tourist Destination in Jammu and Kashmir.

Positioned at an altitude of 2025 m across the Jammu-Srinagar highway, Patnitop is still a hidden treasure not explored much by the people who come to visit the region. Known for their medicinal qualities, the three water springs in Patnitop are a major crowd puller of the place. Enveloped by thick wooded forests from all sides, Patnitop is a celebrated hill station in the region.

As the attention of more and more people is being attracted towards this unexplored haven, the government there is devising new ways and means to develop the region further and turn it into one of the best hill resorts in India. The already big 6 hole Golf Course in being extended to 9 holes while the trekking tracks from Patnitop to other nearby places are being constructed with full enthusiasm. There are quite many hotels and tourist huts managed by the state government in Patnitop that provide basic and luxury amenities to visiting tourists.

Sonamarg
Positioned at an altitude of 2740m, Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir offers perfect respite to all the people who are in search of cool as well as beautiful place. Lying 80 kms to the northeast of Srinagar, Sonamarg is a scenically beautiful tourist destination in the region and a much visited spot by all adventure as well as nature lovers.

The lush green meadows and snow-capped mountains surround the mesmerizing Sonamarg that attracts numerous people to it throughout the year. Trekking and Hiking opportunities are there in abundance in the region. Sonamarg offers some of the finest treks in the area that take you to many beautiful spots like to the nearby destinations of Vishansar, Krishansar and Gangabal lakes.

Sonamarg is also home to many tourist destinations such as the Gadsar and Satsar Lakes, Nilgrad and Nichnai Pass and abundant waterfalls. The Sind River in the region offers great fishing opportunities to all the visitors of the area. The Bisansar Lake & Krishnasar Lake adds to the charm of the place while the alpine flowers, sycamore, silver birch and pine trees are the unique floras found in the region. A hill resort and a base camp for all those visiting Ladakh, Sonamarg is popular amongst all who visit Jammu and Kashmir for a horde of reasons.

Leh & Ladhak
Leh Palace
This palace described has a miniature version of Lhasa's Potala Palace. It was built in the mid of 16th century by King Singe Namgyal. It is still owned by the royal family. This palace has nine storeys. One part of the palace is occupied by the museum. Its narrow passages lined with paintings, arms and old thankas (cloth painted with Tibetian deity). Its central prayer room has religious texts lining the walls. There is a ruined palace / fort set above the Leh palace. The remains of the Leh Gompa houses a large golden Buddha, murals, painted scrolls and old manuscripts.

The Tsemo Gompa
The Tsemo Gompa or Red Gompa is situated at the north of the city has a strenuous walkable distance. The left side of its entrance has the portrait of Tashi Namgyal. It has a colossal 2-storey high image of Maitreya, flanked by Avalokitesvara and Manjusri figures.

Soma Gompa
The new Soma Gompa is a new monastery situated at old village. It was built in 1957 to commemorate the 2,500th birth-day of Buddha.

Hemis
It is 40 Km south of Leh, along a road crossing the Indus. Among the innumerable tankhas (paintings on cloth), there is one which is supposed to be the biggest of its kind in existence. The exposition of this tankhas takes place once in eleven years. Every year, in June, a fair (' Mela of Hemis Gompa') takes place at Hemis which is a colourful occasion for the mask dances.

Tiksey
 It is 25km south of Leh. This is considered as one of the most imposing monastery in Ladakh. It is a 12-storey monastery painted in red and white and ochre. It has 10 temples surrouned by typical tapering walls. 60 lamas and a nunnery reside at the hill side below. The complex contains numerous stupas, wall paintings, tankas, statues, large pillar engraved with Buddha teachings and swords. The interior of new temple dominated by a giant 15 meters high Buddha figure.
